Manchester United are preparing to secure the futures of two of their brightest young talents, with Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo, both set for new contracts according to recent reports.

Mainoo’s Meteoric Rise

Kobbie Mainoo, the 19-year-old midfielder, has had an extraordinary year. From academy prospect to first-team regular and FA Cup final hero, Mainoo’s trajectory has been nothing short of remarkable. His consistent performances have seen him start all five of United’s Premier League games this season, cementing his place in Erik ten Hag’s plans. Currently on a £20,000-a-week deal that runs until 2027 (with an option for an extra year), Mainoo is now in line for a significant pay rise. Reports suggest his new contract could see his wages quadruple, reflecting his growing importance to the team.

Ten Hag’s Praise

Manager Erik ten Hag has been effusive in his praise for Mainoo. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I think he is rewarded by us as a club, as a team. We are so pleased with his development and for us and for him is to keep this process going. “Ten Hag also hinted at the club’s intentions to secure Mainoo’s long-term future: “The leadership in the club has to talk about this and has to make a decision about this – of course we do that in co-operation. That is the thought – we will always have to discuss our players that are progressing well and what we will do with them. And when we have news, we will tell you first.”

Cultivating Homegrown Talent

Amad Diallo, who has returned from loan spells to make a significant impact this season, is also in line for a new deal. The 22-year-old winger has impressed Ten Hag, earning the club’s Player of the Month award and regular first-team consideration. Ten Hag commented on Diallo’s contributions: “He is now a consideration for every game. He has some attributes that really help the team. “With Diallo entering the final year of his current £29,000-a-week contract, albeit with an option for extension, United are keen to tie down the talented Ivorian.

Securing the Future

These potential new contracts for Mainoo and Diallo demonstrate Manchester United’s commitment to nurturing and retaining young talent. As the club continues its rebuilding process under Ten Hag, securing the futures of these promising players could prove crucial in their quest to return to the pinnacle of English and European football.
